a good journey begins with the right people Jillian Rudman Jillian Rudman has been providing strategic consulting services to the financial services industry for over 19 years. In 1998, Jillian formed J Rudman & Associates to address an unmet need in the financial services community. Prior to launching J Rudman & Associates, Jillian worked for State Street Global Advisors managing their West Coast operation, where she focused on marketing and new business development for SSgA’s institutional practice. After two years in the post, she managed the business development effort for SSgA in Sydney, Australia. In Australia, Jillian developed marketing collateral, introduced two new products to market, was instrumental in growing assets from $6 billion to $11 billion in six months, and helped design and evaluate retail market penetration strategies. Prior to working for SSgA, Jillian worked for Robertson Stephens Investment Management where she was responsible for developing the institutional business practice. Before moving to the West Coast, Jillian was based in Chicago and Boston and held marketing and sales positions at Investment Research Company, Massachusetts Financial Services, PanAgora Asset Management and The Boston Company. Jillian graduated with honors from The University of Michigan with a BA in Political Science and History. Jillian is currently involved with the following industry organizations:
Jillian recently completed twelve months of extensive coursework in psychotherapy. In addition, she has been facilitating weekly peer-to-peer support groups in Sausalito for over seven years.TOP Rick Shaughnessy Rick Shaughnessy brings 30 years of practical experience to JRA. Rick’s role with JRA includes presentation training, business strategy, product development and distribution related initiatives. Prior to working with the JRA team and setting up his own consulting practice, Rick was Director of Communications at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management, where he acted as principal spokesman for the firm and oversaw development and production of communications programs for institutional, managed accounts, and offshore markets. Prior to working at Nicholas-Applegate, Rick was Product Specialist and Director of Marketing for a $30 billion equity investment team at American Express Asset Management. Rick holds a BA from Wayne State University.TOP Eric Wilinski Eric Wilinski brings JRA more than a decade of experience in defining and executing on branding strategies. His copywriting expertise spans print and online advertising, direct mail, branding and training videos, case studies and white papers, and product and company naming. Clients who’ve benefited from Eric’s work include Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Charles Schwab, Merrill Lynch, Toronto-Dominion Bank, and Bank of America, as well non-financial services companies like Google, Intel, Starbucks, and Accenture. Eric holds an AB in English Literature from Dartmouth College and an MA in Creative Writing and English Literature from New York University.TOP Ann Bohrer Ann Bohrer brings over 13 years of practical experience to JRA. Ann’s role with JRA includes project management, strategic planning, market positioning, competitive analysis, market research as well as creating content for presentations and training materials. Prior to joining JRA, Ann worked at Metropolitan West Asset Management. In that role as an Assistant Vice President, Ann was the lead project manager for the re-branding of the firm and the re-launch of the website, which was named one of the top rebrand projects in the world for 2009 in the prestigious ReBrand 100 competition. Ann managed the web content, and led the marketing team in the creation of presentations, proposals, fund fact sheets, newsletters, white papers, and all marketing collateral for both institutional and intermediary channels. Prior to her role at Metropolitan West, she was a Marketing Consultant and Assistant Vice President at Wells Fargo where she created proposals and presentations to market bundled retirement plan services and investment management products. Before entering the world of finance and institutional investing, Ann was a producer and production manager for film, commercials, music videos, and corporate communications. She was an agency producer for the graphics packages for two CBS fall campaigns. Ann was also a computer graphics artist/animator/editor for educational and corporate communications, and created speaker support presentations for the senior management of Colgate-Palmolive. Ann holds a BA with Distinction from Pomona College, and a Certificate of Multimedia Business & Production from the American Film Institute. She studied fine art as the Galantier Scholar at the Art Students League in New York City for two years. Her paintings have been exhibited, and can currently be seen on a Fox Television production. Ann is a former Chairman of the Board for The Professional Association for Investment Communications Resources.TOP Jim Humes Jim Humes has been helping companies define, articulate, and communicate their brands and business strategies for the last 15 years. Jim’s experience includes five years at Stone Yamashita Partners where, as a Strategy Team Lead he led clients such as eBay, Coca-Cola, Hewlett-Packard, Johnson & Johnson, GE, Schwab, Apple, and Nike through engagements that focused on brand innovation and business strategy. Prior to joining SYP, Jim held strategy and user experience roles at Walmart.com, Sapient, and Studio Archetype. Jim holds a BA in English Literature from Rice University and an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.TOP Regina Connell Regina Connell brings to J Rudman & Associates over 16 years experience in strategy, client experience, and brand consulting. Prior to joining JRA, she founded Saltcellar, a strategic consulting firm. Her experience also includes four years at Proxicom, an e- business services company. She founded and was the Managing Director of the Customer Experience group, working with clients such as Ford, Chevron, Primedia, Nike, Black & Decker. She was also a senior brand strategist at Landor Associates where her clients included Kraft, HP, SGI, Visa, and others. Regina’s management consulting career began at Booz Allen & Hamilton and continued at Fantus Consulting/Deloitte & Touche. Previously, Regina also worked as a manager at Apple. Regina holds a JD from Hastings and a BA in International Relations from Stanford University.TOP Thea Haley Thea Haley brings over 14 years of practical experience to J Rudman & Associates. Thea’s role with J Rudman & Associates includes strategic planning, market positioning, competitive analysis, market research, as well as designing and creating content for presentations, marketing brochures, and speeches. Prior to joining J Rudman & Associates, Thea worked at Goldman Sachs for nearly seven years, most recently as a Vice President in Goldman Sachs’ Asset Management Group (“GSAM”). In that role, she was responsible for managing marketing communications services to more effectively present GSAM’s investment capabilities, and help to position and cross-sell the group’s alternative products and services to institutional clients. Additionally, Thea worked in public funds business development and as the group’s first US-based request-for-proposal (RFP) manager, working to build an infrastructure and process to support the creation of competitive proposals for institutional pension funds and pension fund consultants. Thea holds a BA from Bowdoin College and a MSFS in International Business Development from Georgetown University.TOP Jennifer Lynch Jennifer Lynch brings 17 years of experience to J Rudman & Associates. Jennifer began her communications career at SEI Investments. Working in the Office of the Chairman, she wrote and edited contributions to the employee newsletter, researched and wrote copy for the narrative section of the annual report, taught a business-writing course, and prepared speeches for senior executives. After three years in corporate communications, Jennifer moved to SEI’s Retirement Services Group as marketing director for the sales team. In addition to writing and supervising the design of marketing literature for the sales unit, Jennifer created employee communication materials for SEI’s 401(k) plan sponsor clients, conducted retirement planning seminars, and served as a liaison between the sales group and the industry press. In 1995 she left SEI — and Philadelphia — to join Towers Perrin&rsquos communications practice in San Francisco. As an associate at Towers Perrin, Jennifer focused primarily on developing employee-benefit communication materials for a diverse West Coast client base. Projects included writing newsletters, brochures, and summary plan descriptions; training clients&rsquo human resources staff to administer benefit plans; and determining the effectiveness of benefit programs through focus groups and surveys. Jennifer accepted a position at Merrill Lynch in 1997. As a communications consultant in the Education and Communications Department, she helped clients develop retirement-communications strategies, then created customized products to educate employees on the basics of planning, saving, and investing for retirement. She also helped plan sponsors appreciate the importance of communication in improving plan participation, contribution rates, and asset allocation. Jennifer holds a BA (cum laude) from The University of Richmond.TOP
